Consumer Math Class

This two-semester course is designed for students who have completed Algebra 1 (and either Algebra 1 Concepts or Geometry) and are ready to apply their math knowledge to real-world situations. The focus is on developing practical math skills and cultivating a “math-minded” approach to everyday adult responsibilities.

Topics include personal finance, budgeting, banking, credit, loans, taxes, and other essential money management skills. Through a daily worksheet-based curriculum—drawing from a variety of thorough and well-vetted resources—students will engage in hands-on, relevant math activities that connect classroom learning to real-life applications. No textbook is required.

Students will earn 5 math credits per semester, totaling 10 credits, which apply toward the 30-credit math graduation requirement. This course supports students in becoming confident, informed, and financially capable adults.
