We are writing to share an important update regarding Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD) class offerings for the upcoming school year.

What Has Changed

A new state law now requires all independent contractor instructors working with charter school students to complete and submit mandated reporter training certificates.

Because CRPD works with a large network of independent instructors, collecting and maintaining these extra certifications across every class provider has created a substantial administrative challenge. To ensure full legal compliance and prioritize student safety, CRPD has had to significantly reduce the total number of classes available to charter school students for the upcoming school year.

Parents may enroll their student in any CRPD class personally and out of pocket; however, charter school funds may not be used unless the class appears on the charter school’s Approved Classes list.

What This Means for ROA Family

While the overall class catalog for charter students will be smaller than in previous years, compliant options are still available. CRPD have established a list of approved instructors and classes that meet all new state requirements.

Next Steps & Contact

If you plan to enroll in CRPD classes through River Oaks Academy this coming year, you may only select a class from the approved list. All other classes that are offered with the CRPD program but not on the approved list, ROA will not be able to enroll your student.

Priority Registration Information

River Oaks Academy (ROA) is thrilled to continue offering classes through the Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD) in Fall 2026! This fantastic partnership allows your student to enroll in a range of enrichment classes through CRPD.

📝 Key Details:

• ROA students can register for ONE class through CRPD.

• Keep in mind that ROA does not guarantee enrollment. If a class becomes full or is canceled, it's out of our control.

• You must select a class from the CRPD's Charter School Approved Class list.

   

🕗 Class Schedule Guidelines:

• Choose classes that take place during regular school hours (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM).

• ROA cannot provide classes during weekends, evenings, or for Spring/Summer camps.

   

🚫 Classes NOT Available for ROA Students:

• Skateboarding

• Fencing

• Archery

• Horseback Riding

• Aquatics

• Mountain Biking

• Driver’s Education

• Dog Training

• Religious Classes

   

⚠️ Enrollment Instructions:

1. Select 2 class options (in case your first choice is full).

2. Complete the entire registration form, including the waiver.

3. Enrollment depends on course availability—so list both first and second choices.

4. ROA students cannot enroll in after-school programs listed under local elementary schools (CVUSD schools).

5. Classes with a "lab fee due at the first class" are not permitted. However, if the class states "lab fee due at registration", you are allowed to sign up.

• In-District: Monday, 8/10/2026

• Out-of-District: Monday, 8/17/2026

   

📍 Important Reminders:

• Please don't contact the CRPD staff directly about issues, let ROA know about it so we can direct it to the right person.

• You will receive a confirmation from CRPD once your child has been enrolled in the class.
